New Delhi, Oct 3 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar engaged in discussions with the Special Advisor to Brazil's President, Celso Luis Nunes Amorim, during his visit to New Delhi, focusing on enhancing strategic cooperation between their nations.
Post-meeting, EAM Jaishankar shared on X, "It was a pleasure to meet with Ambassador Celso Amorim, Special Advisor to the President of Brazil. We had a productive dialogue about the current global landscape and avenues for strengthening our strategic collaboration."
Earlier, Amorim met with National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, where they conducted the 6th India-Brazil Strategic Dialogue. They reviewed advancements in their Strategic Partnership, covering defense and security, energy, rare earths and critical minerals, as well as health and pharmaceuticals.
The officials concurred on advancing the initiatives outlined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, also addressing cooperation in multilateral platforms like BRICS, India-Brazil-South Africa (IBSA), and COP30, which Brazil will host in November.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) noted that Amorim was accompanied by senior Brazilian officials. The dialogue aimed to follow up on matters identified under five cooperation pillars during Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's visit to Brazil in July 2025, as per the MEA statement.
On September 7, EAM Jaishankar extended greetings to his Brazilian counterpart, Mauro Vieira, and the people of Brazil on their Independence Day, emphasizing that the strategic partnership between the two countries would continue to grow.
"Warm greetings to FM Mauro Vieira, the Government, and the people of Brazil on their Independence Day. Our Strategic Partnership and multifaceted ties are set to strengthen for the benefit of our peoples," Jaishankar posted on X.
On August 7, PM Narendra Modi received a call from Brazilian President Lula da Silva, recalling his visit to Brazil in July where both leaders agreed on a comprehensive framework to bolster cooperation across key sectors such as trade, technology, energy, defense, agriculture, health, and people-to-people ties.
"Building on those discussions, they reaffirmed their commitment to elevate the India-Brazil Strategic Partnership to new heights. The leaders shared insights on regional and global issues of common concern," stated the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
Following their phone conversation, PM Modi posted on X, "I had a fruitful discussion with President Lula. I thanked him for making my Brazil visit memorable and impactful. We are dedicated to enhancing our Strategic Partnership in trade, energy, technology, defense, health, and more. A robust, people-centric partnership among Global South nations benefits everyone."
