New Delhi, Oct 16 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar engaged in discussions with Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya on Thursday, reaffirming New Delhi's unwavering support for Colombo.
The two leaders explored avenues to bolster bilateral collaboration between India and Sri Lanka in the fields of education and capacity building.
"I was delighted to meet PM Harini Amarasuriya of Sri Lanka this morning in Delhi. We discussed India's ongoing commitment to Sri Lanka and enhancing our cooperation in education & capacity building," EAM Jaishankar shared on X.
Amarasuriya's visit to India began on Thursday and will last for two days, marking her inaugural trip since taking office.
During her stay until October 18, she is set to engage with senior political figures to deliberate on critical bilateral matters and explore opportunities for deepening collaboration across various sectors.
As part of her itinerary, Amarasuriya will deliver a keynote address at the 'NDTV World Summit', a joint event hosted by NDTV and the Chintan Research Foundation in New Delhi.
In her capacity as the Education Minister of Sri Lanka, she will visit the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Delhi and NITI Aayog to assess potential partnerships in education, innovation, and technology.
A distinguished graduate of Hindu College, University of Delhi, she will also return to her alma mater.
According to the college's schedule, the events will commence at noon with a ceremonial Guard of Honour presented by 16 NCC cadets, followed by a symbolic tree planting ceremony on the college grounds and cultural performances by students at the Sanganeria auditorium.
Additionally, the Sri Lankan leader will participate in a business event aimed at enhancing trade and commercial ties between the two nations.
