Patna, July 6 (NationPress) In the midst of a heated political debate regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar, it has been reported that the Election Commission (EC) has eased the requirements for individuals looking to register on the electoral rolls.
The Press Information Bureau (PIB), which serves as the government's primary information dissemination agency, announced on Sunday that residents in the election-bound state need only complete a form provided by Booth Level Officers (BLO) and attach one supporting document.
Previously, individuals were required to submit a minimum of 11 documents related to their birth, residence, and other pertinent information to secure their names on the voters' list.
As per PIB's Bihar division, users can also utilize the QR code given by the BLOs to fill out the form online.
Simultaneously, the electoral body has successfully finished the initial phase of the procedure while adhering to the established guidelines.
It is important to note that there have been no alterations to the existing instructions, which remain as previously stated.
"The first phase of SIR, during which Enumeration forms were to be printed and distributed, is nearing completion, with forms made accessible to all eligible voters," the EC noted in a comprehensive press release on Sunday.
The SIR is being carried out in accordance with the guidelines, with the draft electoral rolls set to be published on August 1, 2025, reflecting the names of individuals whose enumeration forms have been submitted.
The EC's statement added: "As of today, 1,69,49,208 Enumeration Forms, accounting for 21.46 percent of the total 7,89,69,844 (approximately 7.90 crore) electors in Bihar registered as of June 24, 2025, have been collected. In the past 24 hours alone, 65,32,663 Enumeration Forms were gathered. There remain 19 days until the deadline for form submissions."
Notably, 77,895 BLOs are actively visiting homes to assist voters in completing and collecting their Enumeration Forms. These BLOs are also capturing live images of the voters and uploading them to the portal.
In addition to the extensive network of BLOs, there are 1,54,977 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) appointed by various political parties, who are also providing significant assistance in the SIR process.
