New Delhi, Sep 2 (NationPress) The Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday issued a notice to prominent Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera regarding the possession of two EPIC ID cards and requested clarification about his voter registration in two different Delhi constituencies.
The notice from the New Delhi Electoral Officer includes details of the two Voter ID cards under Pawan Khera's name, stating, “Notice to Shri Pawan Khera for registering himself in the Electoral Roll of more than one constituency.”
This notice comes after revelations surfaced regarding Pawan Khera possessing two voter IDs from separate constituencies – New Delhi and Jangpura Assembly seats.
Khera, who heads the party’s media and publicity department, addressed the shocking findings, claiming that this supports their allegations of ‘vote theft’ and points to a systemic failure by the election authority in managing the electoral rolls.
Earlier, BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya posted images of the voter list from both Assembly constituencies, asserting that the Congress leader possesses two active EPIC numbers.
It is important to note that Khera has been a leading figure in the party’s campaign against purported voter fraud and revisions to the voter list.
In a post on X, Malviya remarked, "Rahul Gandhi has been vocal about 'Vote Chori.' However, similar to how he overlooked the fact that his mother, Sonia Gandhi, registered in India’s voter list prior to becoming an Indian citizen, it has now come to light that Pawan Khera, a Congress spokesperson who frequently highlights his closeness to the Gandhis, possesses two active EPIC numbers (for Jangpura and New Delhi Assembly constituencies, respectively)."
Khera, in response to IANS, dismissed these allegations, asserting, “Whether the inquiry comes from Anurag Thakur, Amit Malviya, or the Congress party, it all points to the Election Commission and its operational methods. This is why the Congress demands transparency: we are not receiving the machine-readable voter list from Varanasi or the booth-wise CCTV footage from Maharashtra. This is why we refer to it as vote theft.”
