ED Conducts Raids at 13 Sites in Investigation Against IAS Officer Sanjeev Hans and Others

New Delhi, Dec 4 (NationPress) The Enforcement Directorate (ED) executed search operations at 13 locations across Delhi, Gurgaon, Kolkata, Jaipur, and Nagpur as part of the money laundering investigation concerning Bihar cadre IAS officer Sanjeev Hans and others, according to officials.

On Tuesday, the searches were conducted by the ED's Patna Zonal office, resulting in the recovery and seizure of various incriminating documents, digital devices, shares valued at Rs 60 crore, unexplained Forex amounting to approximately Rs 16 lakh, and around Rs 23 lakh in cash.

As part of this investigation, Sanjeev Hans and former RJD MLA Gulab Yadav have been apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate.

In total, there are 13 accused in this case, and so far, only Yadav and Hans have been arrested.

In September, the ED had previously conducted raids on properties linked to Sanjeev Hans, seizing cash and valuables worth crores.

The raids, executed under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, occurred on September 10, 11, and 12 at five locations, including Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata.

During those operations, the ED confiscated cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables. The agency's statement indicated that Sanjeev Hans is allegedly involved in money laundering and has been facilitating illegal financial activities.

Further investigations have also revealed his close connections with certain private individuals, with whom he had financial dealings. These findings imply a broader network of financial transactions potentially associated with money laundering schemes.

"The agency executed search operations at five locations across Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata on September 10, 11, and 12. During these raids, substantial amounts of unexplained wealth were seized, including Rs 87 lakh in cash, 13 kg of silver bullion valued at approximately Rs 11 lakh, and 2 kg of gold bullion and jewellery estimated at Rs 1.5 crore," the ED stated.

In addition to physical seizures, the ED uncovered incriminating digital and physical evidence, which included details of Hawala and other banking transactions. Numerous documents and digital records were also confiscated during the raid, indicating potential financial misconduct.

Sanjeev Hans, a resident of Punjab, holds a divisional commissioner rank in Bihar and has served in various high-ranking positions, including District Magistrate in several districts of Bihar.
