Mumbai, June 30 (NationPress) Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has been re-elected as the chief leader of Shiv Sena during a national executive meeting convened here on Monday.
Several executive members urged Deputy CM Shinde to consider stepping up as the national party president or the Paksha Pramukh. He assured them that he would make a decision on this matter in due course. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis extended his congratulations to Shinde for his re-election as the chief leader of Shiv Sena.
According to sources within the Shiv Sena, the executive approved four resolutions, including one concerning Operation Sindoor, which recognized the contributions of the armed forces and congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Cabinet. The party also commended the Centre for its announcement regarding a caste-based census.
In light of the ongoing debate over the introduction of Hindi as a third language alongside Marathi and English from grade one, the Shiv Sena national executive unanimously passed a resolution reaffirming the party's dedication to the Marathi language and the Marathi Manoos, emphasizing that there will be no compromises on these issues.
The executive also congratulated party MPs Shrikant Shinde and Milind Deora for their contributions to the Operation Sindoor outreach initiative.
Additionally, sources indicated that the executive has approved plans for organizational elections and the formation of a five-member trust to oversee the ownership of Shiv Sena’s central shakhas (units) across various districts.
During his speech, Shinde emphasized that the position is less significant than being recognized as an activist and a beloved brother. He stated, “I will not tolerate the stifling of Marathi. We will do whatever it takes to protect the Marathi community. Our commitment to the Marathi people is unwavering. We aim to bring back Marathi individuals who have left Mumbai. The decision to grant the Marathi language Classical status was made during our administration. We are developing the World Marathi Literature Conference and the Marathi Language Building,” he elaborated.
Shinde made it clear that the party will not accept any compromises regarding the Marathi language.
He advised his party legislators and ministers to minimize their verbal engagements and concentrate on their tasks. “The less we speak and the more we accomplish is advantageous for the party. Avoid unnecessary exposure while targeting opponents. Misstatements could lead to complications for the party. Let the achievements speak for themselves. Listen more, speak less,” he added.
