Islamabad, April 30 (NationPress) In light of escalating tensions following the Pahalgam terror incident, Pakistan's Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, convened an emergency press briefing at 2 a.m. on Wednesday. He warned of 'intelligence reports indicating potential military action from India against Pakistan within the upcoming 24 to 36 hours.'
During the urgent press conference, Tarar highlighted credible intelligence that suggests India is preparing for a military strike.
“We possess reliable intelligence that indicates India's intent to launch a military offensive against Pakistan within the next 24 to 36 hours. Should India proceed with any military action, we will respond decisively,” he stated.
“Pakistan is committed to defending its territory with unwavering determination. We will protect our sovereignty and territorial integrity by all necessary means. If India attempts to instigate war against Pakistan, it will bear full responsibility for the catastrophic repercussions,” he emphasized.
Tarar also urged the global community to recognize India's “calculated aggression” towards Pakistan, pointing out that despite Islamabad's offer for an impartial investigation into the Pahalgam attack, New Delhi has failed to provide any evidence linking Pakistan to the incident.
“Days have passed since the Pahalgam event, yet India has not presented any proof. Conversely, we possess credible evidence of India's role in cross-border terrorism affecting our nation. The international community must acknowledge New Delhi's orchestrated justifications for attacking Pakistan,” he asserted.
“Pakistan categorically rejects India's tendency to act as the judge, jury, and executioner,” he added.
The late-night press conference follows significant military deployments on both sides, with rising political tensions. Both nations have enacted various countermeasures, including Pakistan's closure of its airspace to Indian flights and India's suspension of the vital Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), among other actions.
Tarar's remarks echo the recent warning from Pakistan's Defence Minister, Khawaja Asif, who indicated a potential military incursion from India was imminent. Asif also cautioned that Pakistan would resort to using nuclear weapons only if there was a direct threat to the nation’s existence from India.
