Kozhikode, June 17 (NationPress) Two police officials, implicated in a case involving a brothel operating under the pretense of a spa in Malaparambu, Kozhikode, Kerala, were apprehended on Tuesday after being on the run.

The establishment, disguised as a spa, had evaded detection and was also posing as a service provider for elderly care.

The arrested officers were identified as Senior Civil Police Officer (CPO) Shaijith and CPO Sanith, both serving as drivers for the city police control room.

Following their identification in this sex racket, the Kozhikode City Police Commissioner has suspended both individuals.

The police investigation team arrested them while they were traveling in a vehicle owned by the prime suspect in the case, Bindhu.

Bindhu, along with eight others, was arrested earlier this month after authorities discovered a brothel operating in an apartment at Malaparambu, following a tip-off from local residents. A surprise raid was subsequently conducted by the police.

During the operation, nine individuals were taken into custody, including operators, clients, and sex workers, comprising six women and men believed to be clients.

A total of 12 individuals have been named in the FIR, and the police are searching for one more suspect currently in Bahrain.

The apartment owner claimed it was leased to a physiotherapist connected to a Bahraini football club and stated he was unaware of any illegal activities, as rent payments were consistent.

The local police raided the apartment building on June 6. The owner, when contacted by the police, asserted that he had no knowledge of any illicit activities and only learned of them after he was informed by the authorities.

Point of View

I believe this incident underscores the critical need for increased vigilance and accountability within law enforcement. The allegations against these officers are deeply troubling and undermine public trust. It is essential for authorities to address these issues transparently to restore faith in the justice system.
