Enforcement Directorate Continues Raids Linked to DMK MP Kathir Anand for Second Consecutive Day

Vellore, Jan 4 (NationPress) The Enforcement Directorate (ED) maintained its search operations in the early hours of Saturday at various sites connected to DMK MP Kathir Anand, notably at an engineering institute that he owns.
The searches commenced early Friday morning and have now extended beyond 24 hours into Saturday.
The raid at Kingston College of Engineering in Christianpet, Katpadi, owned by Kathir Anand, who represents Vellore in Parliament, involved more than 18 ED officials.
Reports indicate that on Friday night, officials confiscated unaccounted cash from a locker within the college, which was subsequently handed over to employees of State Bank of India and secured for transport.
The ED team is currently examining vital documents related to the college as part of their inquiry.
Additionally, the ED executed a search operation at the residence of DMK General Secretary and Tamil Nadu Minister S. Duraimurugan along with his son, Kathir Anand, in Gandhi Nagar, Katpadi.
Initiated at 2 p.m. on Friday, the operation lasted for an intense 11 hours, concluding around 1:35 a.m. on Saturday.
During the search, officials encountered obstacles, including gaining access to a locked room at Duraimurugan's residence. A staff member resorted to using a crowbar to forcibly open the door, causing a disturbance in the neighborhood. ED personnel departed the location with confiscated documents, accompanied by armed central security forces.
The raids have ignited claims of political targeting by the central agency. Leaders from the DMK have accused the ED of operating under political influence to undermine the party.
Kathir Anand, the offspring of senior DMK leader Duraimurugan, represents the Vellore Lok Sabha constituency and is a notable figure within the party.
The ED has yet to issue an official statement about the searches or disclose specifics regarding the evidence gathered. However, the extensive operation and the recovery of cash and documents imply that the agency is probing allegations of financial misconduct.
This raid contributes to an ongoing series of actions by central agencies targeting DMK leaders, intensifying the friction between the state government and central authorities. Further updates are anticipated as the investigation proceeds.
