New Delhi, Sep 30 (NationPress) As the Election Commission of India gears up to unveil the final voter list for the forthcoming Bihar Assembly elections, senior Congress MP Pramod Tiwari has accused the BJP of previous manipulations to voter lists. He urged the ECI to guarantee that no eligible voter is left out this time.
In a statement to IANS, Tiwari remarked, “I’m eagerly anticipating the release of the voter list. While it may take some time, the public will scrutinize it. The voter list must ensure that every qualified citizen of Bihar is included.”
He further alleged that in prior elections, including those in Haryana, Maharashtra, and even parliamentary polls, genuine voters faced removal from the lists due to BJP interference.
“Under the guidance of the BJP, the names of 65 lakh voters were eliminated. This must not occur again. Every valid, recognized voter should see their name on the list. The BJP has secured victories in Haryana, Maharashtra, and recent parliamentary elections by expunging authentic voters and inserting fraudulent ones. We will await the list, review it, and then take appropriate action,” he stated.
Tiwari's remarks come as the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process wraps up in Bihar, leading to the publication of the revised electoral roll on Tuesday. This update of the voter list is a critical step in the lead-up to the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
The Election Commission emphasized that this is not merely a procedural step but an essential chance for citizens to verify that their names and details are correctly listed. The Commission noted that while the current revision phase culminates with the final publication, voters will still have the opportunity to make corrections or lodge claims and objections until the official election notification is released.
The SIR process permitted residents to submit requests for inclusion, corrections, or objections. With all recorded objections being resolved, the final revised list is now ready for public disclosure.
