Indore, Sep 30 (NationPress) The Madhya Pradesh Congress Party intensified its criticism against the BJP-led state government on Tuesday, alleging that it is protecting BJP MLA Aklavya Singh Gaur, who purportedly pressured shopkeepers in Indore's market to dismiss their Muslim employees.

This campaign to remove Muslim workers was allegedly initiated by Aklavya Singh Gaur, who framed it as an initiative against “love-jihad.” This situation ignited a political uproar, particularly following former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh's visit to the Seetala Market in Indore on Saturday.

The incident reportedly occurred in early September when Gaur attended a meeting with the local shop owners at Seetalal Mata Market in Indore.

On Tuesday, Jitu Patwari, the State Congress President, stated, “Congress respects the constitution and the rights of every citizen. My question is straightforward: why hasn’t the Indore police arrested Aklavya Gaur?”

Patwari mentioned that he met with the Indore Police Commissioner on Tuesday to demand action against Aklavya Gaur. “Who is he to dictate who can work in the market? Congress stands firmly with the Muslim workers who were unjustly removed from their jobs in Indore,” he asserted.

He also pointed out that Digvijaya Singh had already filed a formal complaint with local law enforcement, and the Indore Congress unit consistently opposes these unconstitutional actions.

A controversy erupted on Saturday when Digvijaya Singh was barred from entering the Sheetala Mata Market. A senior police official later informed him that a formal complaint had been received and “is being investigated.”

When Digvijaya Singh inquired about the possibility of an FIR, the police officer responded, “We have 14 days to investigate after receiving a complaint, and further actions will follow accordingly.”

Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav condemned Digvijaya Singh’s visit to the market, alleging that Singh intentionally sought to disturb the city’s “peaceful” environment.

In a related event, the Hindu Mahasabha organized a protest against Digvijaya Singh, where members burned effigies of both Digvijaya Singh and the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, while chanting slogans.

Point of View

The BJP's response will be crucial in shaping public perception. This incident raises vital questions about the balance between political power and civil liberties, demanding attention from both state and national perspectives.
