Bhopal, Oct 6 (NationPress) Describing it as a disrespect towards a Dalit, Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Digvijaya Singh, strongly criticized the mentality that led to the object-throwing incident aimed at Chief Justice of India (CJI) B.R. Gavai in his courtroom this morning.
“I denounce the incident and the mentality that enabled it,” Singh remarked in a statement to IANS.
“Will we witness such incidents merely because a Dalit holds the highest position in the judiciary?” he questioned.
“I strongly condemn this event and demand accountability for the offender,” he added.
Addressing the announcement regarding Bihar election dates, Singh criticized the alleged manipulation of electoral rolls, stating that “vote theft” has been confirmed.
“The discontent among the electorate will benefit the Opposition and will be reflected in the Bihar election results on November 14,” he noted.
He pointed out that issues like unemployment, inflation, and poverty are the most significant challenges facing the nation. “The rich are becoming richer while the poor are increasingly impoverished,” he stated, directing his criticism at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his lack of empathy towards the disadvantaged.
Singh also directed his criticism towards the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), questioning PM Modi’s assertion during his Independence Day speech that the organization is the world’s largest NGO.
“Is the RSS a registered NGO? Is it allowed to raise funds?” he questioned, also raising concerns about the legality surrounding the establishment of the Prime Minister Cares Fund.
“The government has failed to clarify the Supreme Court’s inquiry regarding the legal basis for the Fund’s creation,” he stated.
Digvijaya Singh alleged that PM Modi is more focused on retaining power rather than adhering to the Constitution, religious principles, or legal regulations.
Criticizing the BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government for the recent deaths of children allegedly linked to a toxic cough syrup in Chhindwara, Singh called for the resignation of both the Chief Minister and the Health Minister.
He condemned the state administration for giving a clean slate to the offenders while merely punishing a few officials.
“How did dangerous cough syrups make their way into the market? This represents a significant administrative failure,” he argued, condemning the unrestricted sale of cough syrups without prescriptions or inspections from drug regulatory authorities.
