Indore, September 27 (NationPress) - Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and Congress Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh stated on Saturday that the instances of communal violence have escalated under the governance of the BJP in the state. He highlighted that individuals from minority communities are enduring harassment and discrimination by the authorities.
While visiting Indore, Singh asserted that Muslim youth working as sales personnel in Seetala Mata Market are being compelled to resign from their positions.
“Why is this happening? Because the son of a BJP MLA has mandated that Muslims should not be hired in the markets. What kind of governance is this?” he questioned.
Singh referred to Aklavya Singh Gaur, the son of BJP leader and Indore-4 MLA Malini Gaur, who allegedly instructed shopkeepers at Seetala Mata Market – the largest garment market in Indore with nearly a thousand shops – to dismiss all Muslim employees by September 25.
“The atmosphere in the market is tense. I was appalled to discover that a BJP MLA’s son could issue such unlawful commands. Those who protested have not received any support, and the authorities have remained inactive,” Singh commented during his visit.
He continued, “I intend to ask the Indore police commissioner why no measures have been taken against the MLA’s son. The administration has a responsibility to protect citizens' rights. I will be visiting the local police station to file a formal complaint today.”
Taking a jab at the ruling BJP, Singh remarked, “Previously, the son of a BJP leader assaulted municipal officials, and now another BJP MLA’s son is behaving without accountability. Due to administrative prejudice, the morale of Muslims has plummeted.”
The contentious order from Aklavya Singh Gaur reportedly arose during a meeting with the Seetala Mata Bazaar Vyapari Association in early September, where he cited a rise in alleged ‘love jihad’ cases as justification. The meeting saw the presence of market association president Hema Panjvani, general secretary Atul Neema, and Ram Babu Rathore, husband of the ward councillor.
