Ex-J&K BJP Chief Critiques Iltija Mufti's 'Hindutva' Comment as Irresponsible

New Delhi, Dec 8 (NationPress) Former J&K BJP President Ravinder Raina on Sunday condemned the statement 'Hindutva is a disease' made by Iltija Mufti, the daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti, referring to it as “irresponsible and undignified”.

In an interview with IANS, Raina stated, “Iltija Mufti has employed very irresponsible and undignified language. In her tweet, which was made while re-tweeting a video, her choice of words is quite derogatory.”

The BJP leader further demanded an apology from Iltija Mufti, asserting, “While political opinions may differ, there should be no room for abuse. Respect must be accorded to everyone, and I believe Iltija Mufti should express regret and apologize for her language.”

The uproar began on Saturday when Iltija posted on X, declaring, “Hindutva is a disease.”

She added, “Even Lord Ram would have to hang his head in shame after witnessing these events. Minor Muslim children are being beaten with chappals simply for refusing to invoke Ram's name. Hindutva is a disease that has afflicted millions of Indians and sullied the name of God.”

Following backlash from various leaders, Iltija clarified her comments, explaining that she mentioned Lord Ram to highlight the hypocrisy of those who profess to uphold Ram Rajya while committing acts of violence.

Ravinder Raina also addressed the situation regarding the Rohingya Muslims in Jammu, who claimed their water supply had been disrupted. He stated, “Rohingyas are originally from Myanmar. Given that conditions there have improved, and Rohingyas in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are returning home, I believe we should formulate a similar policy in our country and in Jammu and Kashmir.”

He concluded, “We are aware of the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in the border areas where disturbances are common… At times, anti-national elements exploit their poverty to instigate turmoil. Therefore, it is crucial that the Rohingyas are respectfully repatriated to their homeland.”
