Hyderabad, Jan 28 (NationPress) Authorities on Tuesday revealed the detention of a former soldier who committed an atrocious act by murdering his wife, dismembering her body, boiling the parts, and subsequently incinerating them to ashes.
Following the shocking incident that emerged a week ago in Meerpet, situated on the outskirts of Hyderabad, the Rachakonda Police apprehended 39-year-old Gurumurthy and presented him to the press.
It is alleged that he murdered his spouse, Putta Venkata Madhavi, dismembered her into parts, and boiled them using a water heater, then incinerated them on the stove, turning them into ashes before discarding them in a lake.
Rachakonda Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu disclosed the horrific details of the case, expressing that even law enforcement was taken aback by the heinous nature of the crime. The Commissioner noted that Gurumurthy displayed no remorse or regret.
“This was not an impulsive act of rage. It was a meticulously planned murder executed in a shockingly brutal manner,” he stated. The top official classified it as one of the most extreme cases he has witnessed during his career. The ex-soldier attempted to destroy physical evidence by boiling and burning the remains, but police diligently worked the case and gathered technical evidence to bring him to justice.
Describing the details of the gruesome crime, the Police Commissioner mentioned that on Sankranti (January 15), Gurumurthy and Madhavi visited a relative’s house with their two children. They returned home that night, leaving the children with the relative.
The following morning, an argument erupted between the couple. Gurumurthy assaulted Madhavi, striking her head against the wall. When she fell unconscious, he strangled her to death. He then used a knife to dismember her into four sections—legs, arms, head, and torso.
During the investigation, it was revealed that he spent from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. dismembering the body. He subsequently boiled water and added the body parts. Continuing his gruesome actions, he burned the boiled fragments on the stove. He then ground and crushed the charred remains into powder using a mortar and pestle, before placing the ashes in a plastic bucket and disposing of them in Jillelaguda Lake.
Authorities reported that the suspect returned home with the children after eliminating all traces of the dismembered body. When the children asked about their mother, he falsely claimed she had left without notice. Two days later, when Madhavi’s parents expressed concern, he accompanied them to the police station to report her missing.
The Commissioner confirmed that police had confiscated a knife, stove, grinder, water heater, bucket, air freshener, acid bottle, the victim’s clothing, and two mobile phones.
Earlier that day, police took the suspect back to the crime scene to reconstruct the events. The Commissioner assured that law enforcement would take all necessary steps to build a strong legal case and ensure that Gurumurthy faces appropriate consequences.
