New Delhi, Jan 20 (NationPress) The Department of Posts has implemented the extension of export benefits, including Duty Drawback, Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP), and Rebate of State and Central Taxes and Levies (RoSCTL), for exports conducted through the Postal channel, as stated in an official release on Tuesday.
This initiative, which became effective on January 15 following notifications from the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), signifies a significant advancement in streamlining and expanding export opportunities, particularly for MSMEs, artisans, startups, and small exporters who primarily rely on the postal network for low and medium-value international shipments.
With automated IGST refunds already established, the introduction of export incentives via the postal channel further lowers expenses, enhances liquidity, and boosts the competitiveness of Indian exporters, according to the statement.
Exports through the postal channel are facilitated via Dak Ghar Niryat Kendras (DNKs), a collaborative effort between the Department of Posts and CBIC, which offers comprehensive export facilitation in one location. Currently, there are 1,013 DNKs operating nationwide, allowing exporters from even remote and underserved areas to tap into global markets through booking, digital documentation, and seamless customs clearance.
To put these benefits into action, necessary system improvements have been made in the DNK/Self-Service Portal and Customs platforms, supported by clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for exporters and field officials.
These initiatives are in line with the aims of the Foreign Trade Policy 2023 and the government's emphasis on Ease of Doing Business and the promotion of cross-border e-commerce.
India Post provides a single-window, end-to-end export solution, including pick-up, documentation, online payments, faceless customs clearance, and real-time tracking. Services like the International Tracked Packet Service (ITPS), available in 135 countries, offer a dependable and economical option for cross-border e-commerce shipments.
By leveraging its extensive postal network and digital platforms, the Department of Posts continues to play a vital role in empowering small exporters and MSMEs, bridging the export access gap, and fortifying India's position in global trade, the statement concluded.
