Mumbai, May 17 (NationPress) Senior Maharashtra Congress leader Husain Dalwai expressed his support on Saturday for the central government's plan to form an all-party parliamentary delegation. This delegation aims to visit key global partner nations, including members of the United Nations Security Council, to disseminate information regarding India's anti-terrorism strategies, military operations, and 'Operation Sindoor'. Dalwai described this initiative as a significant effort to reveal the true nature of Pakistan on an international level.
In an interview with IANS, Dalwai highlighted the importance of showcasing, at global forums, the harm caused to India—particularly in Jammu and Kashmir—due to Pakistan's actions.
He pointed out that, for the first time, the government is incorporating leaders from various political factions into such a delegation, thereby presenting a united front to convey the realities of Pakistan’s conduct.
There were concerns regarding the participation of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor in the delegation since his name was absent from the official Congress roster.
Addressing this issue, Dalwai clarified, “The government independently included Shashi Tharoor in the delegation. The Congress had finalized four names. Any internal issues will be addressed by the party’s central committee.”
Tharoor's recent commendation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has fueled speculation regarding his omission from the Congress list.
In response, Dalwai remarked, “When a leader takes an independent political stance, the party does take it into account. Nevertheless, such decisions are ultimately made by the party leadership.”
Dalwai also characterized the government’s delegation initiative as a positive stride. He mentioned this is the first occasion the BJP-led government is seriously dispatching a multi-party delegation abroad to highlight the extensive damage inflicted by Pakistan.
He stressed the necessity of garnering international support, especially concerning the Kashmir issue. Referencing recent statements from Pakistani officials, Dalwai noted that India’s military actions have instigated panic across the border.
“Had our soldiers been granted a bit more time, Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) could potentially have been liberated,” he added.
Regarding the INDIA coalition, Dalwai affirmed that the alliance remains robust. He confirmed that opposition parties in Maharashtra will collaborate in the forthcoming Zilla Parishad and Municipal Corporation elections.
“Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole recently met with Uddhav Thackeray, and it has been resolved that we will contest these elections unitedly,” he concluded.
This statement follows senior Congress leader P Chidambaram's remarks on Thursday, where he lauded the BJP, labeling it as “formidably organized” across various domains. However, he also cast doubt on the solidarity of the INDIA alliance, confessing uncertainty about the coalition’s cohesion.
