Itanagar, Sep 22 (NationPress) The business sector in Arunachal Pradesh expressed its approval of the GST reforms on Monday, stating that the restructured tax system would be advantageous for traders and the entire trading community. Tarh Nachung, the President of the Arunachal Chamber of Commerce & Industries (ACC&I), shared his contentment with his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Itanagar, pointing out that the updated GST rates are anticipated to benefit everyone.

Nachung emphasized that the 25-minute personal dialogue with PM Modi would have a positive influence on local commerce. He noted that the discussions revolved around the simplified GST structure, which now consists of just two slabs—5 percent and 18 percent. This reduction is expected to aid shopkeepers, consumers, and sectors such as insurance, construction, and private vehicle ownership.

He pointed out that many residents in the remote regions of Arunachal Pradesh were previously unaware of GST, but the state government has initiated awareness programs across all 28 districts, ensuring that both traders and consumers can reap the benefits of the reforms.

He further described the interaction as extremely valuable, mentioning that the Prime Minister took the time to detail how the reforms would bolster the business community and add to consumer advantages.

During the event, which was part of a 'GST Bachat Utsav', PM Modi engaged with traders and business representatives in Itanagar, discussing the advantages of the newly introduced GST rate cuts.

PM Modi stated that the GST reforms, effective from Monday, are designed to aid the poor, middle class, women, farmers, traders, and entrepreneurs, and encouraged everyone to participate in a grand celebration of the 'GST Bachat Utsav'.

The Prime Minister assured that this GST 'savings festival' would be a significant milestone for the citizens. Following the laying of the foundation stones for 13 development projects valued at over Rs 5,127 crore in Arunachal Pradesh, he urged the crowd to celebrate by raising their hands with mobile flashlights, which they did enthusiastically. Prior to the main gathering at Indira Gandhi Park, PM Modi visited an exhibition and engaged with local traders, craftspersons, and artisans.

In line with his vision for enhancing the Ease of Doing Business and nurturing a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem, PM Modi also spoke with local taxpayers, traders, and industry representatives regarding the implications of the recent GST rate adjustments. He noted that during the festive season, citizens are experiencing a double benefit. He insisted that the GST 'Savings festival' will usher in joy, prosperity, and success for the people of India.

Recognizing the significant presence of women in the audience, PM Modi reiterated his congratulations for the GST 'Savings festival' and highlighted that the next-generation GST reforms will have a profound impact on them. He stated that households will see substantial relief in their monthly expenses.

The Prime Minister mentioned that essential items such as kitchen supplies, educational materials for children, and clothing have become more affordable. He reaffirmed that GST is now simplified into just two slabs—5 percent and 18 percent. PM Modi emphasized that many essential items are now tax-free, and taxes on other goods have been considerably reduced. He underscored that constructing a home, buying a scooter or bike, dining out, and traveling have all become more economical.
