Kolkata, June 19 (NationPress) The Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, released a video this morning featuring Piyali Das, a prominent figure in the women’s movement in Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas district. In the video, she shares her experiences of being threatened and verbally abused by the officer-in-charge of the local police station in recent days.
While presenting the video, Adhikari highlighted that the officer-in-charge of Sandeshkhali Police Station, Bolai Ghosh, attempted to coerce her into joining the ruling party.
When she resisted these overtures, he resorted to threats and abuse over the phone.
The allegations made by Piyali Das were supported by the video evidence she provided.
“One of the courageous mothers and sisters who stood against Sheikh Shahjahan's criminal activities in Sandeshkhali, Piyali Das has been targeted by the Trinamool Congress to persuade her into their fold,” Adhikari stated.
“After she refused their attempts, the police began to pressure her. Bolai Ghosh even contacted her via WhatsApp, using vile language and threatening her with dire consequences for her defiance. He asserted that no one could challenge his authority,” Adhikari alleged in his statement.
He further claimed that Ghosh used the mobile phone of a local village policeman, Bishwajit Das, to carry out these threats to evade direct accountability.
The Leader of the Opposition commended Piyali Das for her resilience in the face of such intimidation.
“She has demonstrated remarkable courage by not yielding to the threats and temptations posed by the ruling Trinamool Congress and its police force. Her steadfastness is admirable,” Adhikari remarked.
According to him, this incident illustrates that the Trinamool Congress maintains its grip in West Bengal through coercive tactics rather than genuine public support.
“This incident reaffirms our assertion that the rule of these corrupt individuals is unsustainable; change is on the horizon,” Adhikari concluded.
