Mumbai, March 25 (NationPress) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on Tuesday a series of significant policy initiatives aimed at making the state free from Maoist activities and emphasized strict measures against Bangladeshi infiltrators.

In response to a debate on the opposition's motion in the Assembly last week, the Chief Minister highlighted that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has set a target for the nation to eradicate Naxalism (Maoism) by March 2026.

Fadnavis reiterated that the Maharashtra government is fully committed to fighting against Naxalism (Maoism). He stated, "In 2024, 28 Maoists were killed and 19 others surrendered, including eight prominent leaders of the Maoist movement. The battle against Naxalism (Maoism) is at a crucial juncture, which is why industries are being established in Gadchiroli."

He informed that strict actions are being undertaken against Bangladeshi infiltrators, with 1,290 arrests made in 2024 alone. Additionally, 539 infiltrators have been taken into custody in the last 45 days of 2025, while 341 have been deported back to their homeland, the Chief Minister added.

"The state government is striving to create a prosperous Maharashtra that will be admired not just within the country but globally. We ensure that no injustice is done here; only progress is to be achieved. The ideal Maharashtra will respect the Constitution and its 13-crore citizens. The state is witnessing remarkable advancements across all sectors including agriculture, industry, and infrastructure. While governing, we are addressing every societal issue," he noted.

However, he cautioned that the government will not tolerate any disruptions to law and order within the state.

CM Fadnavis assured that the government is working on improving the crime conviction rate and combating criminal activities. "The state ranks eighth in the nation for overall crimes. No city in Maharashtra is among the top 10 in terms of urban crime. Compared to the national average, urban crime rates are relatively low here. The state's zero tolerance policy is leading to a significant increase in crime detection," he stated.

He mentioned, "Anti-narcotics cells have been established in every police station, enabling actions against the sale, transportation, and storage of narcotics. Furthermore, anti-narcotics clubs will be set up in schools and colleges, empowering students to report drug-related activities. A campaign against drug sales, transportation, and storage will be launched, with narcotics worth Rs 10,467 crore seized in 2023-24."

The Chief Minister also affirmed the government's commitment to tackling violence against women, citing the establishment of a special cell for women at the police unit level. "Immediate assistance is provided to women by calling 112, with a response time that ranks second nationally. We aim to achieve the top position. In 2024, the state's response time was recorded at six minutes and 34 seconds. 'Operation Muskan' is being executed to locate missing children, and through this initiative, 38,910 children have been rescued and reunited with their families," he added.

In light of the growing menace of cybercrime, CM Fadnavis noted that 51 laboratories and 50 police stations have been established to combat this issue. "A Cyber Crime Security Corporation is in the works, which will also operate in other states. This corporation will have a toll-free number '1945' for reporting cyber crimes," he encouraged citizens to utilize this helpline.

"Maharashtra is the first state to initiate the Technical Textile Park Mission, which aims to promote research and market growth in the technical textile industry. As India aspires to lead globally in this sector, Maharashtra will be at the forefront," the Chief Minister remarked.

Fadnavis explained that numerous initiatives have been launched in the energy sector, including the provision of solar energy-based booster pumps for farmers according to their needs. He stated that permits for installing 10 HP pumps will be granted in areas with low water levels, but subsidies will only apply to 7.5 HP pumps.

"We are committed to relieving citizens from high electricity bills, promoting solar energy. The Maharashtra government has submitted a multi-year electricity tariff petition to the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission, aiming for annual reductions in electricity rates over the next five years," the Chief Minister concluded.
