Industries Minister Uday Samant along with a team of officials from MIDC, MMRDA, and CIDCO will also be attending the conference.

Fadnavis set off for Davos at midnight for the five-day event commencing on Monday.

In a post on X, CM Fadnavis stated, “Auf nach Davos! With Maharashtra’s blessings, taking off for Davos, Switzerland, for the World Economic Forum 2025. Will strive to do the best for our Magnetic Maharashtra!”

The Maharashtra government is expected to finalize MoUs for investment proposals totaling Rs 7 lakh crore across various sectors, which include high-end technologies, solar modules, semiconductors, green hydrogen and ammonia, agricultural processing, hotel and hospitality, education, healthcare, data centres, Artificial Intelligence, automobiles, EVs, electronics, steel, food processing, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and infrastructure.

As per the Chief Minister’s Office, CM Fadnavis has previously attended the WEF conference three times during his first term. Following this, the Magnetic Maharashtra Investment Conference was held twice in Mumbai under his leadership, which elevated Maharashtra from fifth to first place in industrial investment. “This trip aims to attract significant investment to the state, working towards making Maharashtra a one trillion dollar economy. The main goal of creating employment opportunities will also be addressed,” it stated.

During the WEF conference in January 2023, the state government signed MoUs for investment proposals amounting to Rs 1.40 lakh crore with 19 companies across various sectors such as infrastructure, IT, steel, agriculture, and food processing. In January 2024, further MoUs were inked for investment proposals worth Rs 3.53 lakh crore.

The CM’s visit to Davos is critical as the state government plans to soon unveil a new industrial policy, electronic policy, gems and jewellery policy, and a defence and aerospace policy to further draw in both domestic and foreign direct investments.

Union Minister for Railways and Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, will also attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2025 in Davos, scheduled from January 20 to 24.

“PM Modi has emphasized on inclusive development that brings transformative changes in the lives of those at the bottom of the economic pyramid. From financial inclusion via bank accounts to essential services like toilets, gas connections, tap water, and enhancing infrastructure in both rural and urban areas, this is something the world seeks to understand,” the Minister remarked prior to his departure for Davos.

The Union Minister noted that the World Economic Forum will host detailed discussions regarding inclusive growth, investments in social, physical, and digital infrastructure, and the democratization of technology.

“The global community is eager to learn about India’s economic policies, the digital transformation driven by the Digital India initiative, and how technology has been democratized to empower citizens across all societal strata,” the minister asserted.

India’s participation in WEF 2025 aims to enhance partnerships, attract investments, and position the nation as a global leader in sustainable development and technological innovation.

India’s cutting-edge digital architecture, crafted as part of the Digital India initiative, has established a global standard for utilizing technology to promote inclusive development, which is a significant focus of discussions at the forum, according to the ministry.

The country is dispatching five Union Ministers, three Chief Ministers, and Ministers from various other states to this year’s WEF.

The five-day assembly, commencing January 20, will delve into strategies for re-igniting growth, leveraging new technologies, and reinforcing social and economic resilience, as per the WEF. The global gathering will host nearly 3,000 leaders from over 130 nations, including 350 governmental leaders.
