Synopsis
Key Takeaways
In a deeply distressing event in Faridabad, Haryana, a man has been taken into custody for allegedly killing his 4.5-year-old daughter after she struggled to write numbers up to 50, as reported by the police on Saturday.
The authorities stated that the suspect reportedly attacked the young girl out of anger due to her inability to complete the task.
To cover his actions, he concocted a narrative for his wife, who was away at work, claiming that their daughter had fallen down the stairs while playing.
Upon the mother’s arrival at the hospital, she observed several injuries on her daughter’s body. Visible bruises adorned the child’s face, raising her concerns.
Subsequently, she reported the situation to the police. Acting on her complaint, the Sector 56 Crime Branch apprehended the father, who later confessed during intense questioning.
The police have detained the suspect and obtained a one-day remand for additional investigation.
A spokesperson for the Faridabad Police, Yashpal, revealed that the accused, Krishna Jaiswal, hails from Kharantiya village in Uttar Pradesh’s Sonbhadra district and had been residing with his wife in a rented accommodation in Jharsaintli village for several years.
“Both parents are employed at a private company. The couple has three children: a seven-year-old son, a 4.5-year-old daughter, and a two-year-old daughter,” the official stated.
As per the police, Krishna remained at home during the day to care for the children, while his wife took over at night after he departed for work.
“On January 21, Krishna was teaching his middle daughter at home. When she was unable to write numbers up to 50, he reportedly lost his composure and ruthlessly beat her,” the police reported.
Due to the violent beating, the child lost consciousness. Krishna then transported her to a government hospital where doctors pronounced her dead. He later contacted his wife, claiming that the child had died from a fall down the stairs while playing.
However, after noticing the injuries on the child's body at the hospital, the mother became suspicious and informed the police. Upon questioning, the father admitted to the assault.
Krishna told investigators that since his daughter hadn’t started school, he was teaching her at home. He confessed that he grew angry when she could not write the numbers correctly and severely assaulted her, leading to her tragic death.
The accused was presented before a court, which granted police a one-day remand for further investigation.
Ongoing investigations are underway, with more details expected soon.
