Lucknow, May 18 (NationPress) A total of 30 individuals were successfully evacuated when a fire ignited at Hotel Mohan, situated near Charbagh railway station in Lucknow, during the early hours of Saturday. Authorities reported the incident occurred around 12:30 a.m..

Thanks to the prompt actions of firefighters, police, and local residents, a potential disaster was averted, with no significant property damage reported.

Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Mangesh Kumar stated that three fire tenders were sent out immediately, and local police handled crowd management.

The fire originated in the hotel's basement kitchen, likely due to a gas leak from a cooking cylinder, according to police reports. The fire spread rapidly to the ground and first floors, while thick smoke filled the upper levels, trapping several guests in their rooms.

Firefighters quickly initiated an evacuation, aided by Manjeet Singh Dua, president of Charbagh Yuva Vyapar Mandal, and local youth Monu Singh.

“Around 17 rooms were evacuated, and approximately 30 guests were safely rescued, including 15 individuals from the smoke-filled upper floors,” CFO Kumar explained.

The CFO also indicated that an investigation would be conducted to check the hotel's fire safety protocols.

“A total of seventeen rooms were occupied on the ground floor, housing thirty individuals, all of whom have been evacuated,” he noted.

While the exact cause of the fire remains undetermined, it is suspected that either LPG or electrical issues may be to blame. The CFO remarked, “The kitchen area has many fire risk factors, including LPG and electrical appliances.”

To facilitate ventilation and rescue efforts, windows on the second floor were broken. Monu Singh suffered minor injuries while breaking the glass and has since been admitted to Civil Hospital. The hotel is owned by Anil Kumar Agrawal.
