Noida, Oct 8 (NationPress) With the Diwali festival approaching, the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department in Gautam Buddh Nagar has initiated a rigorous inspection campaign to guarantee that consumers receive only pure and safe food products.
Under the guidance of District Magistrate Medha Roopam, departmental teams have been actively conducting raids across various establishments to ensure the quality of sweets, snacks, and beverages available in the markets.
Assistant Food Commissioner Sarvesh Mishra stated that a team of officers led by Chief Food Safety Officer Virendra Dwivedi raided the Rama Shankar Sweets Manufacturing Unit situated in Sector-115, Noida.
During the inspection, the team uncovered that sweets destined for rural areas were being produced in unsanitary conditions, he added.
A significant amount of contaminated sweets was confiscated from the unit, including boondi laddus, mohan barfi, mohan cake, mohan peda, patisa, and kachchi barfi.
Officials reported that a total of six samples were taken for laboratory testing, while around 1100 kilograms of adulterated sweets were destroyed on-site.
As part of the ongoing campaign, a team including food safety officers Mukesh Kumar, Malti, Vishal Gupta, and Vijay Bahadur Patel inspected Virendra Namkeen Bhandar in Lakhnawali, Surajpur.
During this raid, 38 kilograms of savory snacks were seized, and one sample was taken for testing. A sample of peda was also collected from Ramashish Sweets located in Chuharpur Khadar.
In total, eight samples from various establishments were collected and sent for laboratory analysis. Mishra noted that this campaign is set to continue until Diwali, following the District Magistrate's orders.
He emphasized that strict measures will be enforced against establishments found producing or selling substandard or unsafe food items.
The department's mission is to ensure that during the festive season, residents of the district have access to only pure, safe, and high-quality food and beverages.
