Is the Congress Crossing the Line with AI Video Featuring PM Modi's Mother?

New Delhi, Sep 12 (NationPress) A political controversy ignited on Friday when the Bihar Congress released an AI-generated video on the social media platform X, showcasing characters that resemble Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother, Heeraben Modi.

The video, titled “Maa appears in sahab’s dreams,” has faced severe backlash from the BJP and its ally JD(U), labeling it as “cheap politics” and indicative of “frustration and moral decline.”

This 36-second clip, clearly marked “AI GENERATED,” depicts PM Modi in a dream sequence with his deceased mother speaking to him. Although the Congress has not formally commented on the video's purpose, it has triggered widespread outrage across various political factions, especially with elections approaching in Bihar.

Senior leaders from the BJP reacted swiftly with outrage and disbelief.

Rajya Sabha MP Dinesh Sharma dismissed the video as “pure frustration,” adding, “This is their irritation after sensing defeat. It’s not politics, it’s desperation.”

BJP Mumbai chief Ashish Shelar also criticized the Congress, stating, “When there are no substantial issues left, such cheap and low-level tactics emerge. Congress leaders have previously insulted PM Modi’s mother publicly, and now they’ve crossed all boundaries by using her image for propaganda. This is utterly condemnable, and they will face repercussions in Bihar.”

Union Minister Giriraj Singh condemned the Congress further, asserting, “He doesn’t respect his own mother, let alone someone else’s. A legal case should be initiated against him. This is fraudulent and immoral. Shame on him. What is he trying to prove by involving the Prime Minister’s late mother in a video? Such individuals must face legal action.”

Former Union Minister and BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad stated that the video illustrates the extent to which Congress is willing to stoop.

“How can you degrade yourself to the level of creating memes of a deceased mother who had nothing to do with politics? She was a humble woman who worked hard to raise her son, who became Prime Minister. Have some respect. This behavior will not be tolerated. We will bring this issue to the attention of the entire nation,” he added.

The BJP's ally in Bihar, the Janata Dal (United), also voiced strong opposition to the Congress. JD(U) leader Vijay Kumar Chaudhary criticized the opposition, stating, “I’m puzzled as to why making fun has become a habit for these individuals. It demonstrates the depth of frustration within the opposition.”

Veteran JD(U) leader KC Tyagi remarked, “We oppose this third-rate political mentality. In politics, family members—especially those who have passed—should not be dragged into the fray.”

Ameet Satam, BJP President in Mumbai, asserted, “With such videos, Congress has revealed its true nature. They are disseminating low-level propaganda. However, the citizens of this nation are observing, and they will respond—by ensuring such politicians are sent home permanently.”

Interestingly, there were voices of disapproval even from within the Congress and allied parties regarding the video.

Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey condemned the overall political landscape in Bihar, stating, “Bihar politics has sunk to a very low point. Whether it’s RJD or BJP, both are at fault. Dragging anyone’s mother or father into politics is regrettable. Even the Prime Minister should not leverage his mother’s name for votes. Neither BJP nor Congress should engage in such behavior. We must elevate our focus toward significant issues like development, unemployment, and corruption, which reflect the true essence of democracy.”

Sena (UBT) leader Ambadas Danve cryptically stated, “They will gain nothing from this. The Nitish Kumar government is destined to fall.”

Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot also commented, advocating for respect across party lines: “Every mother deserves honor. Rahul Gandhi respects PM Modi’s mother as well. Debating this issue is inappropriate—it degrades politics to a very low level.”

The widely circulated 36-second clip, marked “AI GENERATED,” is viewed by the BJP as a personal affront as the Bihar elections approach. The video portrays PM Modi in a dream where his mother makes statements.

The Congress's video, captioned “Maa appears in sahab’s dreams,” comes amidst an already charged political atmosphere in Bihar. The BJP has demanded an apology and accountability for those responsible for the video, describing it as a calculated insult intended to harm sentiments before the elections.
