Belagavi (Karnataka), Aug 30 (NationPress) - On Saturday, Karnataka police shot a gang rape suspect in the leg as he attempted to flee by assaulting officers in Belagavi district. Ramesh Killar, the individual in question, was shot within the jurisdiction of Kittur police station.
Authorities revealed that Killar is implicated in a gang rape case, alongside charges of dacoity, robbery, and illegal possession of arms, with three Non-Bailable Warrants (NBW) issued against him.
At around 6 A.M., the Kittur police team, acting on intelligence about Killar's whereabouts, proceeded to apprehend him.
During the arrest attempt, Killar attacked the police officers, injuring Constable Sharif Dafedaar with a stab wound, and made an effort to escape. In response, Sub-Inspector Praveen Gangolli fired a warning shot into the air and commanded the suspect to surrender.
Despite the warning, Killar ignored the commands and was subsequently shot in the leg before being taken into custody.
