Lucknow, Oct 29 (NationPress) Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized during a high-level review meeting of the Uttar Pradesh Industrial Expressway Development Authority (UPEIDA) that expressways serve as the foundation of Uttar Pradesh’s economy and future industrial landscape.
He instructed officials to ensure the Ganga Expressway is finalized by December, stressing the need to accelerate progress to enhance connectivity between the state’s western and eastern regions.
The Chief Minister mandated weekly evaluations of each project's advancement, underscoring that quality should never be compromised.
This meeting also addressed planned extensions of the Ganga Expressway, including the Meerut–Haridwar, Noida–Jewar, and Chitrakoot–Rewa Link Expressways, along with the upcoming Vindhya Expressway and Vindhya–Purvanchal Link Expressway, which will interconnect Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Chandauli, and Sonbhadra.
CM Yogi advised that new expressways must fully align with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) network to avoid duplication and ensure a cohesive road infrastructure across Uttar Pradesh.
He also called for the setup of skill development centers at all points along the defense industrial corridor in Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Agra, Aligarh, and Chitrakoot. These centers are to be designed to provide technical training to local youth, linking them with the defense sector to foster employment opportunities and regional self-sufficiency.
The meeting revealed that investment proposals totaling approximately Rs 30,819 crore have been received for the defense corridor, with 5,039 acres of land acquired and multiple companies already operational.
Emphasizing the state’s land allocation policy, the Chief Minister stated that if an investor does not utilize the assigned land within three years, it should be automatically rescinded.
He instructed officials to establish a transparent system for monitoring land use and to offer further assistance to investors only based on actual progress.
The meeting also discussed UPEIDA’s strategic plan to draw investment into industrial clusters and logistics parks being developed along the expressways. This plan includes ensuring reliable electricity and water supply, truck terminals, way stations, and health and emergency services.
