Bihar's Madhubani Seizes Gas Cylinders Amid Allegations of Artificial Crisis
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, March 14 (NationPress) In light of escalating tensions globally involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, the local authorities in Bihar's Madhubani district have heightened their vigilance regarding a potential gas crisis.
The police have discovered a significant number of LPG cylinders at a bicycle repair shop located in Tamuriya village.
This operation was executed under the jurisdiction of the Lakhnaur police station following a confidential tip-off.
Officials allege that the bicycle shop was being utilized to hoard domestic and commercial gas cylinders for illicit sale masked as bicycle sales and repair services.
During the raid, law enforcement retrieved numerous commercial LPG cylinders along with around twenty domestic cylinders.
A suspect, identified as Laxman Mahto, son of Jaynarayan Mahto, a local from Tamuriya village, has been apprehended in connection with this case.
Subodh Kumar Sinha, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) for the Jhanjharpur subdivision, confirmed that the seized cylinders are the property of Hindustan Petroleum.
Authorities are also investigating the potential involvement of local gas agency operators in this illegal stockpiling activity.
However, officials have not yet disclosed the names of any gas agencies, as the investigation is ongoing.
The DSP mentioned that further details about those implicated will be released once the inquiry is concluded.
Meanwhile, Bhai Virendra, the MLA for the Rashtriya Janata Dal from Maner, has criticized the Bihar government concerning issues related to LPG pricing and supply.
During a memorial event in Akhtiyarpur, Rohtas, commemorating the first death anniversary of educator Jainendra Prasad Singh, Virendra accused the current LPG shortage of being artificially induced.
He drew parallels to the 2016 Demonetisation period, asserting that while the general populace endured long waits, certain individuals profited through black-market activities.
He warned that a similar scenario is unfolding now, where LPG cylinders are purportedly being hoarded and sold illegally while the public endures shortages.
Virendra also expressed skepticism, suggesting that such a widespread shortage of LPG cylinders cannot be a natural occurrence, implying that the crisis is being deliberately orchestrated to benefit specific entities.
