Jaipur, May 24 (NationPress) Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has ardently defended Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi against the accusations made by the BJP, labeling them as politically motivated and unfounded.
Gehlot stated that the BJP is intentionally targeting Rahul and Sonia Gandhi, especially in relation to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) case associated with the National Herald newspaper.
He highlighted that the National Herald was established nearly 90 years ago and forms an integral part of Congress’s historical legacy. “Numerous newspapers exist, some thriving and others not. Congress made efforts to rejuvenate the National Herald. The BJP’s concern is that if this newspaper resumes its operations, they cannot bear its connection to Congress and religious unity,” Gehlot remarked.
Furthermore, he asserted that fraudulent cases have been registered concerning a newspaper that has not even published in recent times.
“When there has been no transaction of even Rs 1, no monetary exchange, what is the rationale for ED intervention?” he questioned.
Gehlot expressed that if the opposition does not challenge such power misuse, the public may begin to question the opposition’s inaction.
“Whenever inquiries are made, BJP leaders become agitated. However, it is our duty to challenge such undemocratic practices,” he stated.
Addressing state-level matters, Gehlot criticized the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ investment summit, asserting that the initiative is more about promises than actual outcomes.
“There is no tangible investment visible on the ground. Rajasthan is grappling with significant issues regarding drinking water and electricity, with power outages lasting four to five hours in numerous areas,” he noted.
He urged the Chief Minister to tackle these pressing concerns promptly and ensure the public does not suffer.
“The heatwave is exacerbating the situation. The administration must act with sensitivity and ensure basic amenities are delivered without interruption,” he advised.
Commenting on the current Nautapa (the nine hottest days of the year), Gehlot advised citizens to refrain from venturing out in extreme heat and take essential precautions to protect their health.
