Hyderabad, July 23 (NationPress) Intense rainfall has struck various regions of Telangana, leading to the inundation of low-lying areas, isolating villages, and significantly disrupting daily life.

The northern districts of Telangana have been experiencing heavy downpours since Tuesday night.

Rivulets, lakes, and ponds in the agency areas of Mulugu district have overflowed, with this region reporting the highest rainfall of 25.5 cm over the past 24 hours.

Villages within the Venkatapuram mandal of Mulugu district have been submerged, leaving residents to endure a restless night as their homes were entirely flooded. The main road connecting Venkatapuram to Bhadrachalam was completely submerged, halting all vehicular traffic.

In Eturanagam mandal, heavy rain measured 18.4 cm, while Mangapet recorded 15.8 cm.

The United Karimnagar district has also been facing heavy rain since early Wednesday, affecting several colonies in Karimnagar town where floodwaters have entered homes and shops.

Heavy rainfall has disrupted coal production at the state-owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), impacting four open-cast mines in Peddapalli district, which typically produce around 40,000 tonnes of coal daily.

Floodwaters have also affected the open-cast mine at Yellandu in the Bhadradri Kothagudem district, necessitating the deployment of pumps to remove the accumulated water.

This flooding has halted the production of 3,500 tonnes of coal.

Additionally, heavy rain has been reported in Warangal, Jangaon, Mahabubabad, and Khammam districts.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in northern and central Telangana districts on Wednesday.

Projections indicate severe rainfall in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts, prompting the IMD to issue an orange alert for these areas.

Furthermore, heavy rain is also anticipated in Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Hanamkonda, Warangal, Jangaon, Mahabubabad, Khammam, Vikarabad, and Mahabubnagar districts, which have been placed under a yellow alert.

The IMD has also forecast light to moderate rain in Hyderabad and the remaining districts.

In light of the rain alert, the Cyberabad Police have recommended that IT companies consider implementing a Work from Home policy on Wednesday.

"An alert has been issued for heavy rain in the Cyberabad area, prioritizing safety, productivity, traffic management, and ensuring uninterrupted emergency services. Companies are encouraged to adopt Work from Home (WFH) arrangements on July 23, 2025 (Wednesday)," stated an advisory from the Cyberabad Police.
