Posting in Hindi on X, Singh wrote: 'भारत की आन, बान और शान, हमारे राष्ट्रीय ध्वज तिरंगे के अभिकल्पक एवं महान स्वतंत्रता सेनानी, प्रखर देशभक्त पिंगली वेंकैया जी की पुण्यतिथि पर उन्हें कोटि-कोटि नमन एवं विनम्र श्रद्धांजलि!' — ('The pride, honour, and glory of India — I offer crores of salutations and humble tributes to Pingali Venkayya, designer of our national flag the Tricolour, great freedom fighter, and ardent patriot, on his death anniversary!'). He added that the form Venkayya gave to the Tricolour continues to instil in every Indian a sense of love for the nation, unity, and pride.

Pingali Venkayya was a Telugu freedom fighter, educationist, and agriculturist who first presented a prototype tricolour flag to Mahatma Gandhi at the All India Congress Committee session in Bezawada in 1921.
