Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Sunday, 26 July launched a pointed attack on the Opposition, alleging that foreign funding and money power were deployed to engineer civil unrest in India. Speaking from Patna, Singh asserted that several details of what he described as an organised conspiracy would soon be made public.

What Giriraj Singh Alleged

Singh claimed that a person based in the United States was involved in the alleged plot, and said the identities of those funding the operation and the channels through which money flowed would come to light. “Someone sitting in America was involved, and now many secrets are going to come out — who was providing the money, where it was being channelled, and what was happening at Jantar Mantar. These people wanted to use money power to create chaos and destroy the country,” Singh said.

He also took aim at what he called a narrow Opposition mindset focused only on electoral outcomes. “If the Opposition’s thinking is limited only to victory and defeat, then may God save us. My concern is for the country and its youth,” he added.

Singh Praises Modi’s Handling of the Student Crisis

The minister credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi with defusing the situation through what he described as wisdom and foresight. He said examinations for approximately 22 lakh students were conducted within a month, ensuring that the academic year was not disrupted. Results were declared and the admission process commenced on schedule, Singh noted.

He contrasted the Prime Minister’s focus with the conduct of unnamed leaders who were, according to him, abroad on foreign visits during the crisis. Singh also said that Dharmendra Pradhan’s implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) would be remembered for generations.

BJP Leaders Allege Wider Conspiracy

West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dilip Ghosh said the government had made every effort to resolve the issue through dialogue, but alleged that the protesters had a different agenda. He also indicated that the Prime Minister had conveyed to Pradhan that stepping down was appropriate, framing it as part of the government’s broader commitment to accountability and development.

Bihar Minister Ram Kripal Yadav went further, alleging that the student controversy was part of what he called a possible “terrorist plot.” He claimed that Delhi Police had established a social media link to Pakistan. “This was a major conspiracy aimed at weakening the country, creating divisions among people and disturbing peace and harmony,” Yadav said. These are allegations made by political figures and have not been independently verified.

The remarks come amid ongoing political tensions surrounding a student protest movement that drew national attention in recent weeks. The protests, centred around Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, prompted significant political debate over exam irregularities and educational administration. This is not the first time BJP leaders have alleged foreign interference in domestic protests; similar claims have been made in the context of earlier agitations, though independent investigations have rarely confirmed such assertions. The Opposition has dismissed the foreign-funding allegations as deflection from governance failures.

With Singh signalling that more disclosures are imminent, the political temperature around the student protest issue is unlikely to cool in the near term.
