Lucknow, April 23, 2026 — The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) officially declared the UP Board 2026 results for Class 10 (High School) and Class 12 (Intermediate) examinations on Thursday, April 23, bringing relief to over 50 lakh students across the state. Girls swept the merit lists in both categories, continuing a trend of academic dominance in one of India's largest board examinations.

Class 10 Toppers: Kashish and Anshika Share the Crown

Kashish Varma of Sitapur and Anshika Varma of Barabanki jointly claimed the first rank in UP Board Class 10, each scoring an outstanding 97.83 per cent. Their shared achievement underscores the rising academic excellence among girl students in semi-urban districts of Uttar Pradesh.

The overall Class 10 pass percentage stood at 90.42%, reflecting a strong performance across the board. Approximately 26.02 lakh candidates appeared in the High School examination this year, making it one of the largest Class 10 evaluations in the country.

Class 12 Results: Shikha Varma Leads the State

In the Intermediate (Class 12) examination, Shikha Varma of Sitapur emerged as the state topper with 97.60 per cent marks. Her performance reinforces the dominance of girl students from Sitapur district in UP Board examinations.

The Class 12 pass percentage was recorded at 80.38%, with around 24.91 lakh students having appeared for the Intermediate examinations. Students who fall short of the minimum qualifying marks of 33 per cent will be eligible to appear in the compartmental examinations.

Examination Scale and Evaluation Process

The UP Board 2026 examinations were conducted from February 18 to March 12 across 8,033 examination centres spread over all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh. The process was described as peaceful and completely free from malpractice by board officials.

Answer sheet evaluation was carried out at 254 centres between March 18 and April 4, with the deployment of approximately 55,976 teachers. Nearly 1.23 crore answer sheets from the Intermediate examination alone were assessed during this period. In total, close to 2.75 crore answer books were evaluated within just 15 working days — a logistical feat that highlights the scale of UPMSP operations.

To ensure the accuracy and credibility of results, principals and senior lecturers were appointed as examiners this year, a step aimed at improving the reliability of the assessment process.

What the Board Officials Said

UP Board Secretary Bhagwati Singh confirmed that the list of toppers was released simultaneously with the declaration of results. He further stated that students who have excelled at the state level will be honoured by the Uttar Pradesh government in a formal recognition ceremony.

Singh emphasized the board's commitment to transparency and timely declaration of results, crediting the smooth coordination between evaluation centres and administrative bodies.

Students can check their UP Board 2026 results through the following channels: the official UPMSP website, the DigiLocker platform, and SMS-based result services. These multiple access points ensure that even students in remote areas with limited internet connectivity can retrieve their scores without difficulty.

As the results sink in, the focus will now shift to college admissions, counselling processes, and the compartmental examination schedule for students who did not clear the exams. The Uttar Pradesh government is expected to announce further steps for topper felicitation and merit-based scholarship programmes in the coming weeks.
