He expressed his aspiration that this day would act as a significant reminder of the necessity of public accountability and inspire a collective dedication to honesty, integrity, transparency, and responsibility in all leadership roles, ensuring that governance is genuinely focused on the people.
In his message, Lt. General Parnaik (Retd.) called for a government system that is transparent, responsive, and efficient, encouraging active citizen participation in the development process.
He noted that promoting public engagement through methods like social audits and community involvement not only builds trust but also fortifies democratic governance.
The Governor remarked that the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee was not only a remarkable statesman but also a visionary leader, eloquent speaker, and respected author.
He asserted that Vajpayee firmly believed in the notion that real empowerment comes from rapid economic growth alongside social progress.
“In honor of this great son of Bharat Mata, I urge the people of Arunachal Pradesh to adopt and uphold the principles of good governance wholeheartedly and collaborate for the nation’s service and the greater public good,” the Governor stated in his address.
Good Governance Day was marked across all Northeastern states through seminars and various events.
In Manipur, the District Administration of Kakching held two special camps as part of the ongoing Good Governance Week from December 19 to 25 under the “Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore” initiative.
These camps were organized in tribal areas to enhance citizen-centric governance and improve public service delivery.
Stalls from various government departments, including Horticulture and Soil Conservation, District Handlooms & Textiles, Manipur State Power Company Limited (MSPCL), Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Education, Forest Department, and Municipal Council, were set up at the camps for grievance resolution and public service delivery.
As part of Good Governance Week, a special drive for Cataract Detection and Surgery for Senior Citizens under the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY) scheme was conducted by the District Social Welfare Office.
In Mizoram, a Good Governance Workshop was held at the Siaha Deputy Commissioner's office complex as part of ongoing governance initiatives.
Addressing the attendees, Additional Deputy Commissioner Abraham Beirazi Khithie underscored the significance of transparency, accountability, and responsiveness in public administration.
He highlighted that government officials should adopt a people-friendly approach while serving citizens.
Emphasizing that good governance is a collective responsibility, he stated that NGOs and the general public play a crucial role in ensuring effective governance.
