Mumbai, Feb 26 (NationPress) The government is dedicated to ensuring that housing is both accessible and sustainable for everyone, stated Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal.

Together with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Goyal handed over keys for 15 self-redeveloped housing societies located in North Mumbai.

While addressing the attendees, the Union Minister guaranteed that the Central government will provide full support to the Maharashtra government’s undertakings in urban redevelopment and infrastructure enhancement.

Discussing developments in North Mumbai, Goyal highlighted that the region has been experiencing considerable infrastructure improvements lately.

He pointed out that the construction of a 1,000-bed hospital near the Magathane metro station is advancing rapidly, with plans for another 1,000-bed hospital in West Kandivali to boost healthcare access and services in the area.

The minister praised Fadnavis for spearheading significant infrastructural projects, such as the extension of the Coastal Road (Worli-Bandra) to Versova and the proposed coastal road linking the new airport via the Atal Sethu.

He mentioned that these projects are crucial for alleviating congestion and enhancing connectivity in Mumbai.

Goyal also commended the state government's initiatives in tackling vital civic challenges.

Furthermore, he acknowledged the effective management of the issue concerning untreated sewage water contaminating water bodies, with over Rs 26,000 crore allocated to ensure adequate sewage treatment prior to its discharge into the ocean.

Goyal encouraged stakeholders to actively engage in and promote awareness of self-redevelopment initiatives in their respective communities.

He expressed optimism that such projects would offer North Mumbai a fresh direction, stimulating development and securing a prosperous future for its residents.
