New Delhi, May 30 (NationPress) In a major advancement for India’s medical technology sector, the Technology Development Board (TDB), operating under the Union Department of Science and Technology (DST), has officially declared financial backing for the creation of India’s inaugural indigenous thrombectomy device aimed at stroke treatment.

The board has granted assistance to S3V Vascular Technologies, located in Mysuru, for their innovative neuro-intervention integrated manufacturing facility dedicated to stroke management, with nearly 1.5 million cases reported annually in the nation.

This initiative aims to develop a cutting-edge manufacturing plant at the Medical Devices Park in Oragadam, situated in Chennai’s Sriperumbudur region.

The facility will focus on producing and developing advanced mechanical thrombectomy kits, which serve as a crucial intervention for patients experiencing acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel blockage.

In contrast to traditional thrombolysis methods, thrombectomy significantly enhances patient outcomes, decreasing the likelihood of long-term paralysis and disability.
