New Delhi, Sep 25 (NationPress) PIB Fact Check, the government entity responsible for debunking misinformation, revealed a disturbing plot by Pakistan aimed at spreading falsehoods just before the Indian Armed Forces' significant drone exercise known as 'Cold Start'. This was exposed through an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-crafted video featuring Air Marshal Rakesh Sinha.
The manipulated video depicts Air Marshal Sinha, the Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Operations), seemingly confessing on camera that Pakistani drones have infiltrated Indian airspace, allegedly damaging the S-400 defense systems.
The PIB's fact-checking efforts unveiled the digitally altered and fabricated nature of the Air Marshal's video, directly challenging the Pakistani propaganda machine for spreading blatant untruths.
To illustrate the extent of the alteration, the PIB shared both the manipulated and the original videos of Air Marshal Sinha, clarifying how his statements to the media were selectively edited, leaving many online users shocked by the significant distortions.
Among the Pakistani propaganda outlets, one named 'the Whistle Blower' inaccurately quoted him, claiming, “Indian Air Marshal Rakesh Sinha admitted that Pakistani drones reached Delhi and Gujarat, destroying S-400 systems due to their surveillance.”
In contrast, the PIB also provided the original footage where Air Marshal Sinha clearly states, “The armed forces will conduct 'Cold Start' in the first week of October, testing the capabilities of drones and counter-drone systems.”
The PIB, while highlighting the dangers of such misleading AI-generated videos, urged the public to remain vigilant. “Such videos are intended to mislead and create confusion and panic. Always verify information before sharing it to help combat misinformation,” it stated.
Importantly, the Indian armed forces are gearing up for their inaugural drone and counter-drone warfare exercise to assess the capabilities of their latest systems, which will take place in the first week of October and involve all three military branches.
