Gurugram, Jan 29 (NationPress) Residents of the Dwarka Expressway region, along with multiple Residents' Welfare Associations (RWAs) and a united NGO coalition, have extended their sincere appreciation to Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for halting the construction of a dumpyard and stopping the waste disposal unit within the residential locality of Daulatabad.

This decision was lauded by notable personalities such as Bani Yadav, recognized as India’s fastest female driver and motorsport advocate, alongside Sunita Godara, a gold medalist from the Asian Marathon Championship.

Members from various RWAs remarked that this action exemplifies the government’s dedication to preserving the health and environment of the local populace.

The resolution followed a vigorous protest from the local community, supported by several RWAs, villages, and social organizations last year.

Residents, villagers, and farmers had voiced substantial worries regarding the detrimental health effects the dumpyard could impose on children and the elderly, resulting in widespread demonstrations.

The community's unified stance was acknowledged by the Chief Minister, who quickly took note of the issue. The Haryana Chief Minister directed the Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram to suspend the project and explore an alternative site for the dumpyard.

Officials mentioned they are currently searching for new locations including Sohna, Nuh, Tauru, and Farrukhnagar.

"We have also contemplated the strategy to establish multiple sites, allowing bulk waste to be disposed of at various locations. We are planning to utilize land owned by panchayats and will ensure they receive rental income," stated an administrative officer.

“The decision to terminate the dumpyard project will have a beneficial impact on the lives of residents along the Dwarka Expressway. We previously harbored serious concerns regarding the wellbeing of children and the elderly, but the intervention of the honorable Chief Minister has alleviated these worries, fostering a positive environment in the region,” asserted Sunita Godara, the Asian Marathon Championship gold medallist.

Bani Yadav, India’s fastest female driver, remarked that the government's awareness and responsiveness towards environmental issues is clearly demonstrated through the directive to relocate the garbage dumpyard.

“We are all thankful to the Chief Minister. This decision has provided relief to local residents, offering them cleaner air and enhanced happiness,” stated Bani Yadav.

The Rise Always Welfare Association (RAWS) and other groups hailed the decision as a ‘historic milestone’. They underscored that this choice will not only safeguard the local environment and the health of residents but will also reinforce trust and communication between the government and the citizenry.

Residents express their appreciation towards the government for this prompt and considerate decision, acknowledging his visionary leadership.

All organizations aspire that similar public welfare initiatives will persist in the future, symbolizing the Haryana government's proactive stance and commitment to the public good.

"The Chief Minister’s decisive action reflects the government's awareness and commitment to public welfare. This decision will ensure the health of our children and the elderly, protect the local environment, and enhance the overall wellbeing of the community," remarked Wing Commander (Retd) R.D. Deshpande, Secretary of RAWS.
