Jaipur, Oct 8 (NationPress) Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma underscored the vital influence of non-resident Rajasthanis (NRRs) in motivating and mentoring the state's populace, particularly the youth, through their remarkable global accomplishments.
He called upon the diaspora to play a role not just in enhancing Rajasthan, their motherland, but also at their workplaces worldwide, including Surat.
During the Pravasi Rajasthani Meet in Surat, Gujarat, the Chief Minister accentuated the profound historical, economic, and cultural connections between Gujarat and Rajasthan.
He acknowledged the vast opportunities for partnership in industries like gems and jewellery, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and the proposed petrochemical complex in Rajasthan.
CM Sharma emphasized the entrepreneurial collaboration between Surat and Rajasthan—where Surat is famous for diamond cutting and synthetic textiles, while Rajasthan is internationally recognized for its colored stones, kundan, meenakari, and traditional handcrafted textiles.
“By merging our capabilities, we can elevate Rajasthan to the status of the world’s Gems and Jewellery Hub,” he remarked.
The Chief Minister extended a heartfelt invitation to NR Rajasthanis to engage in large numbers at the forthcoming Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas, set to take place in Jaipur on December 10.
On this occasion, the state will establish and confer the ‘Pravasi Rajasthani Samman Award’ to acknowledge individuals who have made extraordinary contributions across various fields, including science, business, arts, sports, literature, cinema, music, and social service.
“Non-resident Rajasthanis are among the nation’s most accomplished entrepreneurs and leaders, deserving of recognition,” he stated.
Highlighting Rajasthan’s increasing potential as an investment hub, CM Sharma announced the initiation of a petrochemical refinery in the state this December.
He also pledged full governmental support to investors keen on establishing Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and Data Centres. He invited entrepreneurs to seize opportunities in pivotal industries: IT, pharmaceuticals, textiles, gems & jewellery, energy, petrochemicals, tourism, and mining.
The Chief Minister mentioned that 26 active chapters of the Rajasthan Foundation are fostering ongoing collaboration and cultural exchange between the state and its diaspora across India and globally.
CM Sharma revealed that Rajasthan is swiftly advancing towards becoming a $350 billion economy by 2030.
He stated that out of the Rs 35 lakh crore worth of MoUs signed during the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, projects valued at Rs 7 lakh crore have already been realized.
To further institutionalize diaspora engagement, the state government is establishing a dedicated department aimed at strengthening connections with non-resident Rajasthanis and ensuring their active involvement in the vision of ‘Viksit Rajasthan 2047’ (Developed Rajasthan 2047).
CM Sharma elaborated on Rajasthan’s investment-friendly policies, showcasing the implementation and amendment of over 20 business-friendly policies under his administration.
“Under the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme (RIPS) 2024, more than Rs 1,400 crore in subsidies have been distributed in just the last 18 months,” he noted. These initiatives are facilitating ease of doing business, attracting substantial investments, fostering innovation, and generating new employment prospects.
The Chief Minister also recognized the remarkable contributions of non-resident Rajasthanis in critical areas such as water conservation and groundwater recharge.
He encouraged them to keep participating in significant state initiatives, including the Panchayat Samiti Nandishala Public Participation Scheme, the Bhamashah Scheme, the Gyan Sankalp Portal, and naming initiatives for government colleges, hospitals, and schools.
“With your collaboration, we can transform infrastructure and social sectors throughout Rajasthan,” he concluded.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel added that the state has developed a highly conducive environment for investors, reaffirming the government’s commitment to positioning Rajasthan as a premier destination for global business and development.
