Tapi (Gujarat), Nov 9 (NationPress) In a spectacular display of culture and unity, Gujarat celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of Birsa Munda as part of the national festivities under the “Tribal Pride Year” initiative. The Tribal Pride Yatra in Dolvan, Tapi district, received a warm reception, with dignitaries, community members, and cultural enthusiasts uniting to pay tribute to the remarkable legacy of this tribal leader.

Leading the celebrations, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi was joined by Tribal Development Minister Naresh Patel and Minister of State for Sports Dr Jayram Gamit. The Yatra, which commenced in Umargam and is set to conclude at Ekta Nagar on November 13, aims to highlight the unity, culture, and contributions of India's tribal populations.

In his address, Deputy CM Sanghavi commended the rich cultural heritage of tribal society, stating, “Despite our diverse languages and cultures, the heartbeat and emotions of our tribal communities resonate as one. Their simplicity, dedication, and deep connection to the land embody the true spirit of India.”

He praised the people of Tapi for maintaining their traditional languages—including Konkani, Gamit, Chaudhary, and Dodhiya—calling the district a “living museum of India’s indigenous heritage.”

Sanghavi emphasized that the Tribal Pride Yatra is more than a mere event; it represents a festival of unity and empowerment spreading throughout Gujarat. “Wherever the Yatra travels, large crowds gather to honor Bhagwan Birsa Munda and celebrate tribal pride,” he remarked.

Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who began the celebration of Janajatiya Gaurav Varsh, the Deputy CM announced that the Prime Minister will visit Devmogra and participate in the main Tribal Pride Day event at Dediapada in Narmada district on November 15.

Recalling the valor of Birsa Munda, who heroically fought against British colonialism to safeguard the dignity and rights of tribal communities, Sanghavi asserted, “Tribal Pride Day transcends individual communities; it symbolizes national unity and patriotism.”

Also addressing the attendees, Minister of State for Sports Dr Jayram Gamit highlighted the tribal community’s history of bravery and sacrifice, stating, “Bhagwan Birsa Munda dedicated his life to the nation’s freedom. Inspired by his ideals, we must collaborate to cultivate a prosperous, educated, and empowered society.”

The event also honored tribal students from Tapi who participated in the ISRO Exposure Visit and recognized winners of various sports competitions with certificates. Beneficiaries of several government welfare initiatives received awards, complemented by lively cultural displays reflecting tribal traditions.

Prominent attendees included Deputy Speaker Vijay Patel, District Panchayat President Jalamsinh Vasava, MLAs Mohan Dodhiya (Mahuva) and Mohan Konkani (Vyara), Padma Shri awardee Ramilaben Gamit, District Collector Dr Vipin Garg, and various senior officials.

The event attracted a significant crowd of residents, community leaders, and youth from across Tapi district, transforming the celebration into a genuine festival of tribal unity and pride.
