Gandhinagar, June 30 (NationPress) The esteemed IPS officer Vikas Sahay has received a six-month service extension as the Director General of Police (DGP) for Gujarat, making him the fourth police chief in the state to achieve such an extension post-retirement.

Sahay joins the ranks of previous DGPs Ashish Bhatia, S. S. Khandwawala, and Shivanand Jha, who were also granted post-retirement extensions during their tenures.

Among his predecessors, Ashish Bhatia enjoyed the longest extension of eight months after his scheduled retirement on May 30, 2022. Shivanand Jha, an IPS officer from the 1983 batch, received a three-month extension following his retirement on April 30, 2020.

In a similar vein, S. S. Khandwawala was awarded an additional three-month term in 2010. Vikas Sahay, born in June 1965, is a veteran IPS officer belonging to the 1989 Gujarat cadre.
