Gandhinagar, March 13 (NationPress) The government of Gujarat has initiated a 100-day campaign across the state to advocate for yoga in anticipation of the 12th International Yoga Day, which will be celebrated on June 21. The campaign was officially launched during a curtain-raiser event at the newly built MLA residences in Gandhinagar.
This initiative is spearheaded by the Gujarat State Yoga Board, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, aiming to enhance awareness of yoga and encourage its practice throughout the state leading up to the global event.
The launch event was attended by Sheeshpal Rajput, the chairman of the Gujarat State Yoga Board, along with various legislators.
This marks the commencement of a 100-day countdown during which numerous yoga activities will be held across Gujarat.
Officials have announced that the program will feature yoga camps at both district and taluka levels over the upcoming three months.
These camps will emphasize the Common Yoga Protocol, a standard practice recognized worldwide during International Yoga Day events.
The board highlighted that the goal of this initiative is to inform the public about the advantages of yoga and to encourage broader community involvement in its practice.
“Our aim is to raise awareness of yoga among the populace and to cultivate a society that is both physically and mentally healthy through the adoption of the Common Yoga Protocol,” officials stated.
They also emphasized that yoga should be regarded not merely as a form of exercise but as a holistic way of life.
“Yoga transcends exercise; it embodies a lifestyle. The board is dedicated to promoting its practice even in the most remote villages of the state,” officials affirmed.
Since its establishment by the United Nations, International Yoga Day has been celebrated annually on June 21, following a proposal by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Globally, this day is marked by public yoga sessions and awareness initiatives.
Officials stated that the 100-day campaign in Gujarat will prioritize increasing participation in yoga activities leading up to the international event in June.
The program is themed 'Ek Kadam Yogmay Vidhan Sabha Taraf', which the board believes signifies an effort to promote the adoption of yoga practices throughout the state.
The Gujarat State Yoga Board intends to carry on with events and workshops in various districts and talukas in the weeks to come.
