Gandhinagar, Dec 18 (NationPress) The draft electoral roll preparation under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2025 in Gujarat has reached its concluding phase, with the updated draft expected to be made public on December 19, according to the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Gujarat.
The Special Intensive Revision initiative was carried out throughout the state starting from October 27, 2025, as per the directives from the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The enumeration phase, which was initially slated to wrap up sooner, was extended until December 14, providing an extra three days for the submission of forms. State election officials reported that the exercise has now successfully completed 100 percent of both enumeration and verification.
During this revision activity, enumeration forms were distributed to 5.08 crore voters, with 4.34 crore voters returning the forms. Officials confirmed that all returned forms have been digitized.
Election authorities noted that approximately 44.45 lakh voters could not be mapped during this effort. All 33 districts recorded full completion of the enumeration process, covering all 182 Assembly constituencies in Gujarat.
As part of the verification protocol, meetings were conducted between Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) of recognized political parties to ensure transparency and accuracy. After these discussions, constituency-wise voter lists were posted on the websites of the respective District Election Officers and the CEO Gujarat website, allowing voters to verify their details district-wise.
By the final verification stage, authorities found 18,07,277 deceased voters, 9,69,813 voters who were not at their registered addresses, and 40,26,010 voters who had permanently migrated.
Additionally, 3,81,534 duplicate voters were identified and flagged during the revision.
The CEO’s office stated that Gujarat has demonstrated a strong performance in the Special Intensive Revision campaign, aimed at ensuring a clean, accurate, and inclusive electoral roll ahead of upcoming elections.
Post the publication of the draft electoral roll on December 19, the claims and objections period will be open from December 19, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
Eligible Indian citizens whose names are missing from the draft roll can apply for inclusion by submitting Form 6 along with Aadhaar proof. The Election Commission has reiterated that registering a voter’s name in multiple locations on the electoral roll is a punishable offense, urging citizens to verify their details carefully during the claims and objections period.
