New Delhi, Feb 13 (NationPress) Ahead of the swearing-in of the new BJP administration in Delhi, party legislator and former Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Vijender Gupta on Thursday reached out to Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena requesting the prompt implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission. He emphasized the necessity of utilizing Rs 2,406 crore allocated under the scheme to enhance the city’s health services.

In his letter to Saxena, the newly elected representative from Rohini stated that PM–ABHIM, accompanied by the Health Information Management System, will significantly strengthen the public health care framework.

“The PM-ABHIM initiative is actively being implemented across all states and Union Territories, with the exception of NCT of Delhi. The initiation of this vital program in Delhi will not only enhance the public health care system but also catalyze the stalled health infrastructure projects that are currently facing a substantial resource deficit,” he mentioned.

Gupta noted that PM-ABHIM was launched by the Central government in 2021 with the goal of addressing critical deficiencies in health infrastructure, surveillance, and health research across both rural and urban settings.

Under this Mission, the Central government has sanctioned a funding package of Rs 2,406 crore for NCT of Delhi, which encompasses three key components: Urban Health and Wellness Centres, District Integrated Public Health Labs, and Critical Care Blocks.

Advocating for the swift introduction of the Health Information Management System in Delhi, Gupta stated, “In today’s digital age, digital health solutions are essential to ensure equitable, transparent, and efficient delivery of health care services.”

With the aim of digitalizing health care processes, improving patient record tracking, optimizing hospital management, preventing public fund misappropriation, and overall enhancing health infrastructure, the Central government has highlighted the importance of implementing the Health Information Management System (HIMS) in hospitals, he added.

“However, for reasons known only to the previous AAP government, the digital system has yet to be launched in Delhi. The NIC application ‘e-Hospital/Next Gen Hospital’ is available for this purpose and is successfully utilized in hospitals like Dr. RML Hospital, Safdarjung Hospital, and approximately 738 hospitals nationwide,” he wrote.
