Gurugram: Six Individuals Detained for Distributing Counterfeit Apple Goods

Gurugram, Dec 18 (NationPress) The Gurugram Police have detained six shop owners from the Sector 56 market for distributing counterfeit accessories and components of Apple products.
The individuals arrested include Rahul, a resident of Sarai Daud district, Mathura Uttar Pradesh; Sanjeev Kumar, from NIT Faridabad; and Rahul Kadam, Devender Tiwari, and Ishant Nasa, all residing in Gurugram.
According to police reports, a complaint was lodged on Tuesday, indicating that Apple Inc. had authorized legal action against those involved in selling counterfeit Apple products.
A survey conducted revealed that certain shopkeepers in the Sector 56 market were engaged in the sale of counterfeit items under the guise of being authentic Apple products.
A police team proceeded to the market and inspected the specified shops, discovering that six shop operators were indeed selling counterfeit Apple products.
The authorities subsequently registered a case against the accused shop owners under the Copyright Act at the Sector 56 police station.
During the operation, police confiscated 4,677 fake mobile phone back covers, 557 counterfeit back panels for mobile phones, 74 fake cables, and 53 counterfeit adapters from the arrested individuals.
“Upon inspection, the police found that the mobile shop owners were involved in unlawfully procuring and selling counterfeit mobile accessories of the Apple brand by printing and affixing logos and images, thereby violating the Copyright Act. They were selling these items to customers as if they were genuine products, thereby earning money illegally,” stated Sandeep Kumar, spokesperson for the Gurugram police.
The police suspect that a larger network may be involved in the distribution of these counterfeit goods and are investigating whether these products were manufactured domestically or imported.
The police are proceeding with further actions in accordance with the law. The investigation is ongoing, he confirmed.
