Chandigarh, April 7 (NationPress) It was a nostalgic journey for Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi during his visit to a local government school, where he encouraged students to “believe in themselves”. Reflecting on his own path from a government school student to an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, Rastogi delivered an inspiring speech to the Class XII students, motivating them to work diligently towards their lofty goals.
In response to a question from student Shivani about how to prepare for the IAS, he highlighted the importance of family, teachers, confidence, and focus in reaching one’s objectives.
Speaking to the students at PM Shri Government Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School in Bataur village within the Barwala block of Panchkula, he shared valuable insights and encouraged them to seize the opportunities provided by government model schools.
“The state government is working to minimize the disparity between private and public education by establishing Model Sanskriti and Saarthak Model Schools. These institutions offer high-quality and affordable education, particularly benefiting students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. They aim to foster talent that might otherwise remain hidden due to financial limitations,” he stated during his address.
The Chief Secretary pledged to donate Rs 51,000 from his salary to the PM Shri Government Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School to support innovative initiatives.
He also engaged with teachers and school leaders, emphasizing that accessible and empowering educators can significantly influence a student’s journey.
“Teachers should actively engage with students, understand their issues, and boost their confidence,” he remarked, adding that the government intends to establish a Model Sanskriti School every 10 km in Haryana.
In response to a student’s concern about the absence of local bus services, Rastogi assured that the issue would be resolved and public transport would soon be enhanced.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Nisha Yadav provided students with tips on preparing for IAS exams, urging them to stay informed through newspapers and news channels, while also fostering discipline, confidence, and family support.
District Education Officer Satpal Kaushik informed the Chief Secretary that Panchkula district achieved the highest results in Haryana for Class 10 in 2024-25.
Furthermore, there was an increase of 68,188 in the number of admissions in government schools in the district, which ranked second in Haryana for school enrollment.
