Key Takeaways
Chandigarh, Feb 10 (NationPress) In a remarkable initiative aimed at enhancing welfare through direct benefit transfers, Haryana's Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday allocated Rs 1,431 crore to 56.34 lakh beneficiaries across 18 public welfare schemes. This event stands out as one of the largest single-day benefit distributions in the state’s recent history.
The distribution included the fourth installment of the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana, social security pensions, cooking gas subsidies through the Har Ghar-Har Grihini Yojana, and incentives for milk producers, reflecting the government's commitment to providing targeted assistance to women, the elderly, vulnerable groups, and small-scale producers.
The Chief Minister noted that under the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana, Rs 193 crore was directly credited to the bank accounts of 922,452 beneficiaries, bringing the total amount released under this scheme to Rs 634 crore across four installments.
This initiative offers a monthly financial support of Rs 2,100 to eligible women aged 23 years and above from families with an annual income below Rs 1 lakh, with extended eligibility for specific family categories earning up to Rs 1.80 lakh annually.
According to the Chief Minister, 10,51,029 women registered via the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi mobile app, which was launched on September 25, 2025, to commemorate the 109th birth anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya. Following scrutiny, 922,452 applicants were deemed eligible. Starting in February, Rs 1,100 will be deposited monthly into beneficiaries’ savings accounts, while Rs 1,000 will be placed in a government-managed fixed deposit account.
A significant aspect of this scheme is that all eligible women within a family can enjoy its benefits.
On the same day, the state disbursed Rs 1,098 crore for old-age, widow, differently-abled, and other social security pensions, benefiting 34.14 lakh individuals.
The government acknowledged concerns regarding pension delays and income-based eligibility and has instructed Additional Deputy Commissioners (ADCs) in every district to hold grievance redress hearings twice a week, specifically every Monday and Thursday, to guarantee timely and fair resolution.
Additionally, the Chief Minister announced that under the Har Ghar-Har Grihini Yojana, Rs 38.97 crore was disbursed as a subsidy for November and December to 12.62 lakh women who refilled LPG cylinders. This scheme allows eligible women to acquire a gas cylinder each month at a subsidized price of Rs 500.
Earlier, on January 1, subsidies totaling Rs 18.56 crore were granted to 608,842 beneficiaries. So far, Rs 223.31 crore has been distributed to 14.38 lakh women under this initiative.
