Chandigarh, Jan 26 (NationPress) On Sunday, Haryana's Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini proudly hoisted the national flag during a ceremony held to celebrate the 76th Republic Day in Rewari.
In his address, the Chief Minister remarked that the previous decade has been characterized by inclusive growth, harmony, and coexistence.
“These advancements have greatly enhanced the quality of life for individuals, rendering it easier, more accessible, and secure,” he stated.
He conveyed optimism that Haryana will serve as a model for development, progress, and excellence in the times to come.
Prior to the ceremony, the Chief Minister paid respects at the Veer Shaheedi Smarak to honor the martyrs. He also oversaw the parade featuring Haryana Police, Home Guards, Scouts, and other contingents.
Saini mentioned that this marks his inaugural occasion of unfurling the flag on Republic Day as Chief Minister, and he considers it a profound honor that this first event takes place in the historic region of Ahirwal, Rewari.
He called upon the residents of Haryana to uphold cultural traditions and high moral standards to foster a cleaner, healthier, wealthier, stronger, and more developed nation and state.
He further elaborated, “This Republic Day serves as a reminder that our nation embodies a multitude of religions, castes, languages, clothing, cuisine, and cultures. It is a testament to unity in diversity. The world is currently celebrating this diversity at the ongoing Mahakumbh in Prayagraj.
The Chief Minister emphasized that to disseminate the message of unity among all citizens, the ‘Our Constitution, Our Pride’ initiative is being implemented nationwide under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This campaign honors the contributions of the Constitution's framers and promotes awareness about its values.
He noted that the people of Haryana played a pivotal role during the freedom struggle, with the revolution of 1857 originating in Ambala Cantonment. To inspire the youth, the construction of a ‘Swatantrata Sangram Smarak’ (War Memorial) in Ambala Cantonment is nearing completion, with an investment of Rs 538 crore.
The government has raised the pension for freedom fighters and their widows to Rs 40,000 per month. Additionally, the ex-gratia payment for families of soldiers who died in combat has been increased to Rs 1 crore.
