Why Did the Himachal Cabinet Convert Part-Time Class IV Employees to Daily-Wagers?

Shimla, May 5 (NationPress) The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has made a significant decision to transition part-time Class IV employees into daily-wager roles. This change applies to those who have completed a continuous service of seven years as of March 31.

Furthermore, it has been resolved to relocate the Wildlife Wing of the Forest Department from Shimla to the CPD KFW Project Office in Dharamsala, located in the Kangra district. The CPD KFW Project office will also move to the former premises of the Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) in Dharamsala.

Additionally, the Cabinet has approved the relocation of the District Jail from Mandi to a newly constructed facility at Nerchowk. The current jail site in Mandi will be repurposed into an Open Jail specifically for female inmates.

To support these transitions, the Cabinet has authorized the creation and filling of various posts. They also approved the Himachal Pradesh Online Filing and Processing of Court Cases Rules, 2025, which will enable revenue courts to handle applications, appeals, revisions, reviews, and other petitions online.

The Cabinet has granted the Himachal Pradesh Rajya Chayan Aayog the authority to set examination fees for recruitment tests. Additionally, it has decided to formulate development plans for the Shri Chintpurni Special Area in Una district, Sarahan Special Area in Shimla district, and the Bhota Planning Area in Hamirpur district. This aims to regulate the unplanned expansion of rural settlements and unmonitored commercial development along the national highway.

New guidelines have been approved for the requisition of vacancies, selection processes, and the issuance of appointment offers across various government departments where requisitioning has been completed. A Cabinet subcommittee will be formed to oversee these aspects for future appointments.

The Cabinet has also sanctioned the allocation of 350 new stage carriage routes across the state, along with additional routes based on local demand, allowing private operators to run 18-seater tempo travellers to improve public transport services and connectivity.

Moreover, the Cabinet has approved the hiring of 81 Medical Officer posts, which includes 68 positions for Casualty Medical Officers and 13 in various other categories. This decision is aimed at bolstering emergency services, trauma centres, casualty units, blood banks, and tertiary cancer care facilities in government medical colleges and institutions.

Lastly, the Cabinet has approved filling 11 posts of Subject Matter Specialist in various Krishi Vigyan Kendras to enhance agricultural extension services. They also sanctioned the construction of a commercial complex with two high-rise buildings, 14 and 17 storeys tall, in Mohal Chotta Shimla, to meet the city's growing administrative and commercial needs by providing world-class infrastructure, modern amenities, and ample parking.
