New Delhi, Oct 22 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah is preparing to host festive gatherings at his residence in Ahmedabad on Wednesday to celebrate the Gujarati New Year.

With traditional rituals and warm wishes for attendees, he will greet visitors at Royal Crescent Bungalows in Ahmedabad from 9 a.m. to 10.30 a.m.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will join Shah in public Diwali celebrations, which also coincides with the Home Minister's birthday, adding a personal touch to the festivities.

Born in 1964, Shah, a crucial strategist of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a close aide to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been instrumental in the party's ascent on a national level.

On his birthday, party workers and supporters across Gujarat and India will extend greetings through various social initiatives, including blood donation camps and cultural events.

In Gujarat, Bestu Varas, the Gujarati New Year, is celebrated a day after Diwali and signifies the start of the Vikram Samvat calendar, traditionally observed in the region.

This day represents renewal, prosperity, and new beginnings.

During his visit, Shah is anticipated to inaugurate the newly built MLA quarters in Sector-17, Gandhinagar, on October 23.

The project, which cost Rs 220 crore, replaces the old legislators' housing complex and consists of 216 air-conditioned 4BHK flats spread across 12 towers, each standing nine stories tall.

Initiated in 2021, the project covers over 28,000 square metres.

Every residence is designed with two master bedrooms, two additional rooms, a kitchen, dining area, waiting room, and office space, along with a separate staff room. The complex also features landscaped gardens, a community hall, an auditorium, a health club, a canteen, and recreational areas for children and senior citizens.

Officials have stated that extensive security and administrative measures are being implemented for the event, which occurs on Bhai Bij, the final day of Diwali festivities, symbolizing renewal and brotherhood.
